The Client: Clark Transfer, Inc.

Since 1949, Clark Transfer has moved thousands of productions over millions of miles. They have handled the transportation of Broadway shows, dance companies, operas, orchestras, televised events, and trade publications.


The Challenge

To track show trucks and trailers, Clark Transfer used a labor intensive, rudimentary bookkeeping system. Because of the manual nature of the system, it often proved inefficient and unreliable. Dispatchers were never confident about the locations of trailers or their status, were hesitant in their bookings, and created space between moves to cover potential inaccuracies.


The Solution

SGP International developed a customized Sales and Dispatch System for Clark Transfer to track all stages of a show’s move from initial bidding to driver payment vouchers. The new system provided links to the company’s accounting software and other third party software systems used in the trucking industry.

The Results

After implementing the Sales and Dispatch System, the ability to find specific units and keep accurate track of company resources was vastly enhanced, and preventive maintenance occurred more regularly. System reliability was greatly improved.

Most recently, Clark Transfer has moved on to ownership of its own truck fleet. The Sales and Dispatch System has allowed Clark to radically change their management structure, thereby creating a positive impact on their cash flow and ultimately on their profitability.
